We’re delighted to share that Ontra’s Legal Aid Alliance has donated over $572,000 to legal aid nonprofits in less than three years.

Many underprivileged members of our communities are systematically disadvantaged because they don’t have access to legal representation. We believe that together, with our customers and the legal community, we can help bridge the justice gap in America.

In 2021, we began by donating $1 for each document processed through our Contract Automation solution. With the help of our amazing customers, we donated $81,732 that year. By 2022, we were able to donate an additional $197,757.

2023 was a record-breaking year for the LAA

In 2023, we expanded the LAA program to donate $1 for every document processed via our Insight and FundFormer solutions. We also moved beyond the U.S. to make donations in Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Ontra will donate $272,653 this year because of documents processed through our solutions in 2023. For the first year ever, $33,711 will go toward non-U.S. legal aid programs.

In addition to expanding LAA donations to other solutions in Ontra’s private markets technology platform, we took advantage of the holiday season to generate even more donations for the life-changing work legal aid nonprofits perform every day, nationwide.

While we love sending our customers gifts from various businesses that support local nonprofits, we offered another option in 2023. Ontra customers could opt for us to donate to a legal aid-related nonprofit on their behalf in lieu of the traditional corporate gift.

We are happy to share that we raised an additional $20,250 to reach a total of $292,903 in LAA donations for 2023.

Our partnership with the Legal Services Corporation (LSC)

We partner with the LSC to ensure donations raised through the LAA go to vetted legal aid organizations in the U.S. The LSC is the largest funder of civil legal aid for low-income Americans in the country.

Our customers are able to choose which nonprofits receive a donation, and our top recipients over the last few years include:

  • Legal Services NYC
  • Legal Aid Chicago
  • Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Boston Bar Association
  • Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles
  • Bay Area Legal Aid
  • Florida Rural Legal Services, Inc.
  • Central Virginia Legal Aid Society, Inc.
  • Statewide Legal Services of Connecticut, Inc.
  • Lone Star Legal Aid
  • Ohio State Legal Services

Every $1 makes a difference. We can’t wait to see what 2024 brings and look forward to continuing our efforts to help increase access to justice for vulnerable communities around the world.
